Since 2006, Hope Newsome has focused her practice on venture and private financings, private funds, and institutional investment managers and broker-dealers. She has served as counsel to emerging and impact investment managers, private and public funds, limited purpose and capital acquisition broker-dealers, and entrepreneurs seeking capital. Â
Since 2019, she has been Managing Partner at Virtus LLP, a boutique law firm which she co-founded. Virtus LLC focuses on federal securities laws for financial institutions, businesses, and governmental entities. Prior to co-founding Virtus LLP, Hope served as general counsel and chief compliance officer of registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, and registered and private funds. Â
She serves on the boards of the Heart of Florida United Way, as co-chair and the African American Chamber of Commerce Central Florida, as chair. She is a member of the Florida Bar, serving on the Clients’ Security Funds Committee and the board of directors for the National Society of Compliance Professionals. She has been recognized by the Orlando Business Journal: 40 under 40 and Women Who Mean Business, and Top Compliance Counsel, First Chair Awards. Â
Hope earned her law degree from the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, Barry University, and received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College. She regularly speaks at industry events and publishes articles on topics that impact her clients.Â
