Ushir Shah (he/him/his)

Ushir has more than 20 years of start-up and high growth experience in FinTech, wealth management, EdTech, blockchain, and the Internet of Things. He has a deep background in many areas, including technology systems design and security, finance and accounting, SEC compliance, and team building with strategic leadership.  

Before Known Holdings, he was Founder & CEO of Namu, a financial platform that provides accounting, tax, and retirement functionality for freelancers. Previously, he was the contract CTO for Aurigin (an investment banking and blockchain start-up for mid-market M&A deals), and CEO of Softdel (an Internet of Things software engineering company with nearly 175 employees worldwide). Prior to that, he spent 5 years as a Partner/COO/CCO for Round Table Wealth Management (an Investment & Financial Advisory firm with $1 billion in AUM) working with high-net-worth clients and overseeing five investment funds for investor relations, audit, tax, and accounting. 

From 2002–11, he was Vice President of Technology for Rockefeller & Co. (the Rockefeller Family Office and wealth management company, now called Rockefeller Capital Management), and also part of the founding team for the fintech spin-off that commercialized RocklT, the portfolio accounting system developed in-house for family offices. In 1999, as Executive Director of Technology, he was part of the early founding team at Jenzabar (an EdTech dot-com startup) that over the following 3 years acquired nine companies and grew to over 400 employees nationwide. Jenzabar is an ongoing success today. In addition, he provided independent consulting services for more than 20 years, helping clients with technology design and management, personal finance, tax return preparation, and accounting. He holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BS in Computer System Engineering from Boston University. 

Outside of this, he is a co-parent to three young boys, classic British car enthusiast, car engine rebuilder, Formula F1 fan, perpetual pilot in training, huge fan of US revolutionary history, native NYC’er with a love of NYC history, adventure traveler and foodie, believer that walking tours are the best for exploring, and always thinking and talking about how to improve the world, one detail at a time.
