Asset Manager and Growth Platform for BIPOC-owned Financial Firms Joins Major Corporations in Statement of Opposition to Threats to Abortion.
June 24, 2022 (New York City, NY)—Known Holdings, a growth platform and asset manager focused on scaling BIPOC-owned financial firms, joined Patagonia, Yelp, Lyft, Eileen Fisher, Seventh Generation and a growing list of over 200 other national corporations in a campaign of resistance to the newly announced Supreme Court decision on abortion care. The statement asserts that abortion bans go against their company values and negatively affect efforts to promote equality in the workplace, putting businesses, communities, and the economy at risk.
“Public policies that restrict reproductive healthcare, including abortion, go against our values and are bad for business,” said Nathalie Molina Niño, Known’s Co-Founder and Partner. “These policies impair our ability to build diverse and inclusive workforce pipelines, recruit top national talent, and protect the well-being of all the people who keep our businesses thriving day in and out.”
“For the first time in history, 5 Supreme Court Justices are taking away a fundamental human right that citizens have relied upon for 5 decades.” said Molina Niño. “The ruling unlocks policies which will devastate countless lives and will drastically impair the ability of our nation’s workforces to participate fully in career growth and economic opportunity,”
Known joins a growing list of major companies and employers who have signed on to the “Don’t Ban Equality” statement. “We hope more businesses, especially in the financial sector, understand and engage on reproductive health public policy, behind the scenes or visibly, at the state and federal level, in a way that they have not historically.” added Molina Niño. “Supporting this issue is the next step in the gender and racial equity commitments businesses have made already, and is central to any business’ efforts to support working families and caregivers.”
