Co-Founder and outgoing president, Valerie Red-Horse Mohl, to transition to Partner Emeritus role.

July 25th, 2024 (New York, NY) – Financial services and asset management platform, Known, announced today that Co-Founder and President, Valerie Red-Horse Mohl, is stepping down from her role as President and stepping into role as Partner Emeritus to focus on family and wellness, with transition continuing through 2024.

“This has been an incredible journey and I think I speak for everyone at Known, that it has been an honor to have had Val’s leadership as a co-founder with us since day one, to guide, balance and encourage us to show up every day as our best selves,” said Jim Casselberry, Known Co-Founder and CEO. “While we congratulate her on this next phase, we’re also grateful to remain connected to her as a trusted resource, and a shareholder (member).”

“Leaving a legacy is about planting seeds that will grow into trees under whose shade one may never sit,” said Known’s Co-Founder and outgoing President, Valerie Red-Horse Mohl. “As I transition, I do so with a heart full of hope and optimism for the future.  I embrace my own next chapter and leave this position with the knowledge that the best is yet to come. I feel only deep gratitude to everyone who has been a part of the Known journey. My transition is not a farewell, but a celebration of what we have accomplished together and a testament to the bright future that lies ahead.”

Red-Horse Mohl, a veteran investment banker and securities principal with over 25 years of experience, is the first Native American to start an investment bank on Wall Street and a widely renown luminary in the world of financial services, asset management and investment banking. She is the Advisory Board Chair of Stanford University’s Center for the Comparative Studies of Race and Ethnicity, where she teaches two undergraduate courses on Entrepreneurship for Social Impact and Racial Equity. She served as an early advisor to the Known team since 2019, later co-founding the company and stepping in full time, as president.

“I consider myself lucky to be among the legions of mentees who have benefited from the good counsel and wisdom of Valerie Red-Horse Mohl over the years, especially these recent years working together at Known,” said Known Co-Founder and incoming President, Nathalie Molina Niño. “Val often says that she hopes the impact of her actions will be felt into as many as seven generations forward. And as she steps away from her day-to-day role this year, she leaves a new generation of leaders who are inspired to carry forward her legacy of impact and prosperity,”
