Chris Morris has over 35 years of experience financing, investing, operating, and scaling businesses to maximize value creation. Chris joins Known as Managing Director, where he will focus on middle-market business enterprises owned by underrepresented founders. Prior to Known, Chris served as COO of Bonaventure, an integrated alternative multifamily asset manager, where he led a $450M merger of five entities into Bonaventure Holdings and saw the value of Bonaventure increase approximately 50% over 2½ years. The company also launched a private REIT with a focus on stabilized multifamily properties. Prior to Bonaventure, Chris served as Managing Partner of MPact Partners, a consulting firm that provided finance, strategy, and operational advice to clients in private, government, and non-profit sectors.Â
Chris also managed the New York practice of Tatum, a firm that provided interim C-level executives to its clients, including private equity portfolio companies. Chris also led Freddie Mac’s multifamily affordable housing goal team that successfully met all housing goals for underserved markets established by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, as well as leading Freddie Mac’s Catch the Dream initiative, which focused on increasing minority homeownership. Earlier in his career, Chris spent a number of years as a corporate finance and private equity executive. He has spent his career mentoring and coaching senior executives on how to be effective leaders.Â
Chris serves on the Board of Directors of Blue Dolphin Energy and the C.S. Lewis Institute. Chris is also a senior advisor to Board Veritas, a firm focused on corporate governance, finance and operations coaching, and best practices.Â
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
